The Chargers come into Tuesday's exhibition picked to finish third in the Gulf South Conference's East Division. The Division II program finished at 17-11 last season, making the GSC Tournament for the fifth straight year.

UAH will be led senior Cody Jones. The 6-foot-7 center was recently picked as a member of the preseason all-conference first team. The Indiana native averaged 13.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds for the Chargers last season.

The Chargers also return 24-game starter Josh Magette. The 6-foot-1 sophomore guard averaged 11 points and 4.1 rebounds during his first year, and shot 38-percent from three. Magette was also led the team in steals with 55 and was second in assists with 111.

Huntsville is looking for a few new starters to emerge from junior guards Tyler Hanback and Elliot Jones as well as true freshmen Xavier Baldwin and Jaime Smith.

The 6-foot-4 Hanback made three starts last season and averaged five points while playing 16 minutes per a game. The 6-foot-6 Jones played sparingly for most of the season, averaging 3.3 points a game.

Baldwin is a heralded 6-foot-3 guard from from Minor High in Adamsville while Jaime Smith is a 6-foot-2 guard from Hoover. Jaime is following in the footsteps of his brothers Joe and Jason Smith at UAH. Both were all-conference standouts during their careers.

Alabama-Huntsville is lead by 13-year head coach Lenny Acuff. The Chargers are 202-134 under Acuff and have won two division championships and appeared in three NCAA Division II Tournaments under the Huntsville native.
