Pecoraro returns to give VU first Friday SEC win
It took just 11 months for freshman All American right hander T.J. Pecoraro to return to the mound for Vanderbilt. After seeing him throw 42 strikes in 61 pitches, he couldn't have come back fast enough.
Vanderbilt won its first Friday game in SEC play, with Pecoraro getting his first start since coming back from Tommy John surgery last spring. Scattering five hits and allowing just one run, Pecoraro led VU to a 5-4 win over the visiting Auburn Tigers in Nashville.
Auburn starter Derek Varnadore took the loss for the Tigers, giving up five runs on seven hits in six innings of work.
Pecoraro proved to be the perfect medicine for an Auburn team that takes a ton of pitches, and bunts and steals with abandon. The Tigers got eight hits, and took a 2-1 lead in the fifth. But the Commodores answered in the bottom of the sixth with three of their own, and tacked on another in the seventh.
