UK gets four early runs, outlasts VU
The magical return of T.J. Pecoraro ended with a thud tonight, as the visiting Kentucky Wildcats (36-7, 14-5) lit up the sophomore right hander with five hits and four earned runs in the first two innings.
The longest and most successful outing of the season for freshman Brian Miller was not enough to beat the SEC's No. 1 team, as UK beat VU 5-2 at Hawkins Field.
UK starting pitcher Taylor Rogers (5-2) earned the win, and Alex Phillips got the save, his fifth.
Pecoraro, now 0-2, faced just 13 batters but threw 51 pitches. He also walked four batters -- a career high -- and hit one.
Pecoraro returned to the pitching lineup earlier this month, 11 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
