Looking back to Carolina, looking ahead to Northwestern

VandySports.com Vanderbilt lost a heart-breaking 17-13 opener to South Carolina on Thursday, but the Commodores and coach James Franklin say they're putting that behind them now as they prepare for a trip to Northwestern. Here's all the news and notes coming out of Franklin's Monday press conference.
Another close-game heartbreaker The script has become too familiar: Vanderbilt once again lost a nail-biter in the last minute. Last Thursday's came by a 17-13 score at the hands of Southeastern Conference Eastern Division rival South Carolina.
In Franklin's 14 games as Vandy's coach, it's now the fifth time in six tries that VU has lost a game that went down to the final two minutes.
Franklin was asked about dealing with the heartbreak of those games, but shrugged it off. He instead chose to deal with how far the program has come in the past year.
