It's been quite a weekend for Vanderbilt's football program.

First, the school accepted an invitation to play in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, to be played at LP Field in Nashville on New Year's Eve.

But foremost, head coach James Franklin officially signed onto his third VU employment contract in as many years. Word is that the new deal included a bump in salary beyond the $3 million he currently is believed to receive. That further establishes Franklin among the best paid football coaches in the SEC.

The agreement also includes pay raises for Franklin's coaching assistants.
