Week results and summariesFeb. 19, won 9-3 at Belmont: Sophomore Philip Pfeiffer got the start, fanning 10 in 6 2/3 innings to get his first college win. Freshman Xavier Turner had three hits, and Mike Yastrzemski had a home run.
Feb 20, beat Central Arkansas 10-2: Freshman pitcher Walker Buehler had a disappointing debut, walking eight in four innings, though also striking out six and giving up just one run. But the bullpen trio of Steven Rice, Carson Fulmer and Jared Miller limited UCA to just one run, and a two-hit, two-RBI day from Conrad Gregor led a balanced offensive effort.
Feb. 22, beat Monmouth 5-1: Lefty Kevin Ziomek had his slurve going in a big way, striking out 11 and giving up just one earned run in seven innings. VU managed just six hits (two by Jack Lupo) but made them count.
