In many ways, the 2009 football season has been a nightmare one for the Vanderbilt Commodores. With over 17 returning starters including nine on defense, many felt that Vanderbilt would at least be at 4-3 heading into late October. However, an inconsistent and ineffective offense as well as a great deal of injuries has led Vanderbilt to a 2-5 record including a 0-4 start in the Southeastern Conference.
