Vanderbilt center A.J. Ogilvy was named to the preseason All-SEC first team by the league's coaches on Monday. The junior was one of eight players named to the first team.

Ogilvy averaged 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds last season during the Commodores 19-12 campaign. The native Australian also shot 54.3 percent from the field and blocked 48 shots.

The 6-foot-11, 250-pound big man has earned all-league honors during each of his two years in Nashville. As a freshman, Ogilvy averaged 17 points and 6.7 rebounds while helping the Commodores to a 26-8 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

He is one of 14 returning lettermen for the Commodores this season. The Commodores were recently picked to finish third in the SEC Eastern Division by the league's assorted press and has received preseason Top 25 consideration this offseason.

Joining Ogilvy on the preseason all-conference first team were Tennessee's Tyler Smith, Kentucky's Patrick Patterson, South Carolina's Devan Downey, Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado, LSU's Tasmin Mitchell, Ole Miss' Terrico White and Arkansas' Marcus Washington.

This is the sixth straight year the league's coaches have voted for an all-conference team. Twenty-seven different players received votes for the teams and Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee led all schools with two selections each.
