March 15, 2013NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Kentucky's Southeastern Conference Tournament kryptonite showed up again.
Vanderbilt played one of its best games of the season, leading from nearly start to finish in sending the Wildcats home with a 64 -48 defeat at the Bridgestone Arena on Friday evening.
It was a total team effort for the Commodores, who shot 50 percent from the field, 47.1 percent from 3, and 90.1 percent from the line. Dai-Jon Parker (12 points), Kevin Bright (11) and Kyle Fuller (10) led VU in scoring.
The Commodores not only led, but led by double digits for most of the evening.
The lead hit 20 early in the second half, and although UK made a run to cut the lead to 10 on an Archie Goodwin dunk that brought the crowd to its feet, a Kedren Johnson lay-up (technically, it was a goal-tend) and a Kevin Bright 3 from the right side pushed the margin back to 15, and UK never seriously threatened again.
Vanderbilt led 37-23 at half after Shelby Moats canned a 3 from the left corner in the waning seconds of the half. VU shot a blistering 59.1 percent before the break, and had a balanced attack with seven guys cracking the scoring column.
Vanderbilt will play the winner of Friday night's late game between Missouri and Ole Miss.
