The Oregon State game in a nutshell

Turning point:

Vanderbilt saw its nine-point lead slowly whittled down throughout the second half, and Oregon State point guard Ahmad Starks hit a long jump shot with 33.2 seconds left to finally tie the contest. VU got the ball back, and took a time out with 12.9 seconds left.

On the inbounds, the ball went to point guard Brad Tinsley in the back court. Tinsley drove right on Starks, slipped around a screen from Steve Tchiengang, got inside the 3-point line, and suddenly pulled up, which got him brief separation on his defender. Starks recovered to come back and get a hand in Tinsley's face, and Tinsley's left leg slipped out as he was launching the shot.

But as coach Kevin Stallings pointed out in the postgame, Tinsley kept his upper body straight, and what was about a 16-foot shot fell perfectly into the net with 4.5 seconds left.
