Maddux: Johnson is Mr. Versatility

In his efforts to build an SEC title contender, Kevin Stallings' staff has managed to execute a truly global recruiting effort. Steve Tchiengang is originally from Camaroon, Festus Ezeli hails from Nigeria, and Taylor's family is from Sweden. Now departed center A.J. Ogilvy was born and raised in Australia.

At the same time, the staff has finally begun to make inroads right down the road.

Last week, Marshall County point guard Kedron Johnson followed in the footsteps of former Station Camp High, and now sophomore guard John Jenkins, when he announced his decision to attend VU next fall. As a duo, Johnson and Jenkins will become the highest rated Nashville-area high school recruits to ever wear the Black and Gold on the same roster.

Former Commodore guard Drew Maddux has had a front row seat for the new-found talent pipeline that is headed to West End. Maddux is the head varsity basketball coach at Nashville's Christ Presbyterian Academy, as well as head coach of the Tennessee Tigers AAU team. During his tenure, he's had plenty of opportunities to watch Johnson on and off the court, and Maddux believes Vandy just picked up another player that promises to put the Commodore program on the map.
