Next Spartan star from Saginaw?

Arthur Hill point guard Eric Davis, like a lot of basketball fans from Saginaw, Mich., has been pulling for the Golden State Warriors during the NBA Playoffs.

The 6-foot-3, 160-pound Class of 2015 standout has a connection to the Western Conference semifinalist through former Michigan State star and Saginaw product Draymond Green, who was selected by Golden State with the No. 35 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

"I think he is doing great for Golden State," said Davis. "He is playing his role, not getting out of character. He is doing awesome in the NBA. I am really proud of what he has done and happy for him.

"People remember great players in Saginaw. Your name is always going to be remembered if you do what great players from here have done. I am not there yet, but I want to be one of the players that all of the old guys in the barbershop are talking about from back in the day."

The City of Saginaw has been good to Michigan State during the last decade and a half. Green and Arthur Hill alum Jason Richardson (Philadelphia 76'ers are two of the biggest stars of the Tom Izzo era.

Michigan State coaches believe that Davis has the tools to flourish in the Spartan program.

"Coach Izzo has told me to keep up the good work," said Davis. "They have watched me play a lot, and they are going to keep watching me play throughout my high school career."

The Spartans would like to get Davis on campus for an unofficial visit at some point this summer. Davis made his last unofficial visit to Michigan State for the team's non-conference victory over Texas last December.

"They want me to get up to campus, so that they can strengthen the relationship they have with me," said Davis. "I have a good relationship with Michigan State coaches. Hopefully, I can get up there this summer and play in open gym."

Michigan State offered Davis a scholarship as a sophomore last January.
