The Lipscomb win, in a nutshell
Vanderbilt earned an 80-69 win over Lipscomb University on Friday night. Chris Lee breaks down all the night's key moments and adds a notebook as well.
Key moment: Vandy clung to a 60-57 lead, when Kyle Fuller hit a lay-up with 4:38 left. The Bisons' Carter Sanderson missed a layup, Josh Henderson snagged a rebound, and Fuller nailed two free throws on the other end. After another LU miss, Rod Odom hit a layup at the 4:07 mark, and the Bisons never really seemed to get within striking distance again.
What went right: It took almost the whole night for VU to get much separation from the pesky Bisons, but when they finally did, you could see the reasons why the Commodores were the better team. Rod Odom started hitting some shots from the wing, and the Commodores started winning the one-on-one match-ups all over the floor, especially from James Siakam inside (more on that in a bit) and from Kyle Fuller.
