VU sells allotment, requests more

Vanderbilt has sold its initial allotment of 12,000 tickets to the 2012 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, and has requested additional tickets according to a press release by the school on Friday.

All club and lower level premium tickets are now sold, and the school has requested upper level seats which can be purchased through the Vanderbilt Ticket Office. Those seats will be located on the east side of LP Field, which will serve as Vanderbilt's side of the stadium. Tickets can be purchased for $45 per seat.

Many fans pre-ordered Music City Bowl tickets prior to the team's formal invitation and acceptance to the game last Sunday, and those seat assignments will begin to be processed this weekend. A round of tickets will be mailed to Commodore fans this upcoming week.

"Our fans have done a tremendous job in selling out our entire initial allotment along with our additional requests in just five days. It's a clear signal that the Vanderbilt community and college football fans in this market are very excited about Commodore football," Vanderbilt director of sales and marketing Steve Walsh said in a statement on Friday. "I am very pleased to announce that we have worked with bowl officials to allow us to begin selling upper level tickets through the Vanderbilt Ticket Office so our supporters can be assured of sitting in black and gold sections of LP Field."

Commodore head football coach James Franklin is looking for a sellout for the game, hoping the VU fans and alumni sell four times its designated allotment. With just a little over four weeks to go, the Vanderbilt coaching staff requests that tickets be purchased through the school so that VU can improve its chances for major bowl games down the road.

Vanderbilt went 8-4 during the 2012 regular season, the program's best mark since the 1982 season. The Commodores also went 5-3, signifying the most conference wins for the program since 1934.

The Commodores are led by a Top 25 defense and an offense that has exploded for nearly 43 points a game during VU's last five wins. One of those wins included a 41-18 beat down of rival Tennessee, the biggest Commodore win over the Volunteers in close to 60 years.
