Vanderbilt crumbles down the stretch...again

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt saw an 11-point lead disappear, as Alabama's Trevor Lacey hit a 3 in the game's final minute that but the Crimson Tide ahead for good, as the Crimson Tide snapped a 22-year losing streak at Memorial Gym with a 58-54 win on Saturday afternoon.

Vanderbilt led 51-40 with just 7:10 left when Kyle Fuller hit a 3, but a flurry of turnovers and bad shots doomed the Commodores down the stretch. 'Bama tied the game at 53 on a pair of Lacey foul shots with 3:29 left, and his 3 a few minutes later provided the winning margin.

Kedren Johnson led Vandy with 15, and Fuller added 13, while Lacey's 17 were a game high.

Vanderbilt led by a 31-23 margin at the break, behind 12 from Johnson and eight from Fuller. Alabama shot just 32 percent (8-of-25) from the field in the first half.

It's the fourth Southeastern Conference game the Commodores (8-12 overall, 2-6 SEC) have lost in the final minute.
