Vandy signs three to NLIs

Vanderbilt head basketball coach Kevin Stallings has announced the signings of Wade Baldwin IV, Matthew Fisher-Davis, and Riley LaChance to National Letters of Intent, and all will be eligible to compete for the Commodores in the fall of 2014.

The three, all ranked in the top 100 by national scouting services, comprise a class that is ranked number 24 in the country by ESPN and number 26 by Rivals.com.

"I'm very excited about the three young men that are signing with us," said Stallings. "All three are great kids from great families, and we're excited about the help that they'll bring to the perimeter of next year's team and really proud of my staff of going out and doing a good job and landing these guys."

Baldwin, a 6'2 combo guard who plays at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J., averaged 18.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game as a junior as he led his team to the Public A State Championship in 2012-2013. He was a third-team all-state selection, as well as a first-team all-county pick. He is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals, is the 92nd best player in the class of 2014 according to Rivals.

"I chose Vanderbilt first and foremost for the academics they provide, and for being ranked within the top 25 in numerous city and overall rankings," said Baldwin. "I also chose Vanderbilt for the relationship I built with the coaching staff there and on my visit, I saw that each one of the members of the team are warriors like myself that want to be successful. I also feel that I can make an immediate impact on the team and help contribute and lead Vanderbilt to where they deserve to be, which is at the top."

Fisher-Davis, a 6'5 shooting guard from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists in his junior season for Charlotte Christian, and was named a CISAA All-Conference member. Fisher-Davis, who now attends Butler High School, is rated the 94th best player in the class of 2014 according to Scout.com, and a four-star prospect by both ESPN and Rivals. He is widely considered one of 2014's best pure shooters. Fisher-Davis also stood out on the baseball diamond, playing third base and short stop on Charlotte Christian's state championship team in 2013.

"Vanderbilt was the most comfortable school for me," said Fisher-Davis. "From academics to athletics to the social aspect, it seemed like it was a no brainer, and it was."

LaChance, a 6'2 combo guard from Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wisc., was an all-state selection by coaches his junior year and an all-conference pick in his sophomore and junior seasons. As a junior LaChance averaged 20.9 points, four rebounds, and four assists per game. His Brookfield High School team was also co-conference champions last season. LaChance was also invited to the Chris Paul Point Guard Camp in the summer of 2013, a camp which features 20 of the nation's top high school and collegiate point guards.

"I chose Vanderbilt because I felt at home on and off the court," said LaChance. "Everybody in the program felt like family to me when I was there and even when I left. Coach Stallings is one of the best and most respected coaches in college basketball and it will be an honor to play for him. Coach (Tom) Richardson made it clear to me and my family that I would be taken care of by him and the rest of the Vanderbilt staff like I was a son of their own, and that's something that went a long way for my family and I."
