Late Rebel run finishes Vandy
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- As soon as the comeback came, it also went.
Vanderbilt turned a 13-point deficit into a brief second-half lead but couldn't finish, as Ole Miss walked out of Memorial Gym with a 63-52 victory over the Commodores on Wednesday evening.
Rod Odom had 18 points for Vandy, which trailed 33-20 early in the second half. The senior hit a number of key shots in a 26-12 run midway through the second half, as the 'Dores took a 46-45 lead on James Siakam's lay-up.
But the Rebels reeled off the next 11 points in the blink of an eye, putting Vandy's comeback bid to rest.
The Commodores trailed 29-20 at the break, with Odom's nine points leading the way.
Jarvis Summers' 16 points led a balanced scoring effort for the Rebels, who put four players in double-figures.
VU (9-8 overall) fell to 1-4 in the SEC, and hits the road for games with Texas A&M and Georgia.
