Scott anchors down

The commitment train continued for Vanderbilt on Monday as Suwanee (Ga.) receiver Caleb Scott became the latest prospect to join the fold. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect pledged to new Commodores head coach Derek Mason on Sunday night and made his decision known on Monday via social media.

"Blessed to be able to say Vanderbilt will be my new home! Can't wait to see what God's got in store for me there! #AnchorDown" - Scott tweeted on Twitter at 8:26 p.m. CT.

A standout at perennial Georgia contender North Gwinnett High, Scott enjoyed a strong senior season during the Bulldogs run the Class 6A state title game. The three-star prospect caught 72 passes for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named second team Class 6A All-State as North Gwinnett went 13-3.

One of the top performers at Vanderbilt during its camp series last summer, dominating in one-on-one's and position drills against several BCS level prospects. Scott was on the Commodore radar throughout much of the recruiting period, but once Mason became the program's new head coach, Scott shot up the radar due to his combination of length, route running ability and tendency to make the tough catch. He also has good speed on the outside.

He took an official visit to Nashville on January 25th, immediately after taking an official to TCU. It ultimately came down to those two programs, though he also picked up offers from Missouri, Nebraska and several programs along the way.

Scott caught 38 passes for 684 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.

His father Chuck Scott was a All-American for Vanderbilt in the mid-80's, still considered one of the Top 10 best receivers in school history. His older brother Chad Scott is in his second year as a receiver at Furman University.

Scott's commitment gives Vanderbilt 17 public commitments for the 2014 class. He joins fellow Georgia prospect Rashad Canty as a projected receiver for the Commodores.
