Last-minute comeback helps Vandy by A&M

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt was ice-cold from the field all day, but a brief dose of Memorial Magic at the end of regulation was enough to help the Commodores get a 57-54 win.

Trailing by four with 9.6 seconds to play, the 'Dores got a dunk from James Siakam, forced a turnover off the in-bounds pass, and got a clutch shot from Rod Odom to send the game to overtime, where Vanderbilt would take the lead early and hang on down the stretch.

A&M got off to a 10-0 start and never trailed in regulation. But Vandy tied the game with 3.9 seconds left when Rod Odom hit a long two from the left corner and the game went to overtime.

Vandy's Damian Jones hit a reverse lay-up for the first points of overtime, got fouled, and converted the charity toss with 3:59 left. The Commodores would retain the lead the rest of the way.

Siakam (16 points), Kyle Fuller (12) and Jones (10) were double-figure scorers for Vandy, which improved to 14-10 overall and 6-6 in the Southeastern Conference.

Thanks to a 25 percent first-half shooting performance (6-of-24), the Commodores trailed A&M 23-19 at the break. Siakam (six points) led VU in first-half scoring.

VU's Dai-Jon Parker hit a free throw to open the second-half scoring to pull Vandy to within three, but the 'Dores never got closer until the very end of regulation.
