Anchor Drop! Jonathan Stewart

Vanderbilt received a nice gift on Christmas day when Mountain View (Ga.) offensive tackle Jonathan Stewart gave his verbal pledge to the Commodores.

The 6-foot-8, 300-pound prospect had long been on Vanderbilt's recruiting radar before being extended an offer back in October.

Stewart talked with VandySports.com last week to discuss what intrigues him about the Commodore program:

“One of the things that I like about Vanderbilt is their coaching staff. I like that they are up front with what they expect from you and with how the football program operates. I’m looking forward to just checking the scene out on my official visit and getting to meet some of these guys in person.”

The 3-star prospect has developed a good relationship with offensive line coach Cameron Norcross throughout his recruiting process.

Stewart chose the Commodores over offers from Virginia, Iowa State, East Carolina, Central Florida, and Western Kentucky.

He becomes the 14th overall commitment and the fourth offensive lineman to pledge to the Commodores, joining Bryce Bailey, Grant Miller, and Cole Clemens.
