Interest rising for Hillsboros Jay King

In today's game, college coaches are looking for length in the secondary. They want taller corners to give themselves a chance against taller wide receivers like Hillsboro's Jay King. The 6-foot-3 and 185-pound wide receiver hopes to impress this summer.
"I'm a deep threat, and I come in and out of breaks quick. I like running go routes and comebacks. I've got good feet," said King of his playing style.

"I am a hard worker and dedicated receiver. I perform good practice habits to prepare myself for the games. I'm a leader as well. I like to make sure everyone feels comfortable so they can compete at the best of their ability."
Despite accumulating 678 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns as a junior, the Nashville native would like to see his recruitment pick up. He currently holds offers from Kennesaw State and UT-Martin.
"The recruiting process is going a little slow. I'm hoping that it picks up after I go to some camps these next few weeks. Hopefully, it will jump off from there," said King.
"I plan on attending Western Kentucky, Purdue, and hopefully Vanderbilt. Then, I might go up to Tennessee in July."
With those upcoming camps, he believes that he is on the verge of picking up a few new offers.
"I think Purdue and Western Kentucky are the closest schools to offering along with Memphis," said King.
As a junior, King played a key role in Hillsboro's run to the state championship game. He thinks the Burros have the pieces needed to make another run to a state championship.
"Last season, it went well as we made it all the way to the state championship. Vincent Perry was a key factor along with Kyle Phillips and Michael Hughes," said King.
"This year, we have two good running backs coming back, and I am coming back as a receiver. We also have another great athlete in Malique Fleming who does well on both sides of the ball. We should be good this year, and I think we can make another state run. The goal is to win state."
