This one was over early, as the Commodores raced to a 24-0 halftime lead and were never really threatened. VU led in total yards by a 278-41 margin at the half, ran 50 first-half plays and held the ball for 20:28.
Kentucky gift-wrapped an early VU touchdown, when a low snap to punter Ryan Tydlacka resulted in his being tackled by Udom Umoh at the UK 3. One play later, Stacy had a 3-yard run for the game's first score.
With 8:53 left before half, Jordan Rodgers hit Chris Boyd on a 14-yard scoring strike on a third-down play.
Stacy added another TD run with 3:37 left in the second quarter, and VU led 21-0.
Ryan Fowler tacked on a 32-yard field goal with 39 seconds left in the half.
A Rodgers-to-Matthews pass behind the line of scrimmage turned into a 49-yard touchdown, putting Vandy up 31.
UK finally got on the board when Maxwell Smith hit Nick Melillo on a 22-yard pass, then hit Matt Roark on the 2-point conversion.
But Stacy added a remarkable 18-yard scoring run in which he dragged a pile of UK defenders the last six yards with 6:45 left.
