Vanderbilt routs Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Vanderbilt built a huge lead early and never allowed visiting Southeastern Louisiana to get close afterwards, as the Commodores cruised to an 85-52 victory over the Lions on Saturday evening at Memorial Gymnasium.
Jeffery Taylor and Steve Tchiengang (15 points each) led a balanced scoring attack for the Commodores, who improved to 8-2. Lance Goulbourne (13) and John Jenkins (12) also chipped in with double-figure scoring.

Vanderbilt went on an 11-1 run out of the gate, with Taylor scoring nine of those points.
The 'Dores had their first 20-point lead by the 9:44 mark after Goulbourne's 3 made the score 30-8.
The lead swelled to 41-10 after Tinsley hit a 3 with 6:32 left. The Lions closed the half respectably from there, as Vandy led 53-24 at break.
VU out-shot SELA 62.5 percent to 32.1 percent at halftime, and out-rebounded the Lions 23-13. The 'Dores hit 8-of-15 behind the 3-point arc in the half.
By midway through the first half, walk-ons Jordan Smart and Joe Duffy had made appearances.
Southeastern Louisiana scored the first seven points of the second half, but Jenkins answered with a 3, Taylor, a pair of foul shots, and Goulbourne, a short field goal, to get the momentum headed the other way.
Smart scored his first collegiate points on a long 3-pointer late in the game.
