The Commodores got on the board with a rushing touchdown from sophomore quarterback Chris Nickson, who scored from seven yards out to cap a nine play, 87 yard drive on the first possession of the game.
Arkansas answered right back with their own drive that was capped by a 56-yard touchdown strike from freshmen quarterback Mitch Mustain to junior receiver Marcus Monk.
Vandy vaulted back ahead when Nickson found Cassen Jackson-Garrison with a nine-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. But the Commodores missed the extra point, and Mustain hit Felix Jones with a 21-yard screen pass for a touchdown, and converted the extra point for a one-point halftime lead.
