It was no surprise that Vanderbilt joined Florida, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Harvard, and Yale. The Commodores received his first and only official visit last weekend, that from all reports went very well.

In an interview from earlier in the week, Nesmith told VandySports.com that the trip was better than he ever expected.

When asked what stuck out about Vanderbilt, he responded," They really want me."

The Commodores find themselves in good shape at this point. Sources close to his recruitment say the Vanderbilt staff was hoping for a commitment while he was in Nashville. Although that didn't happen, we hear that they feel good about their chances in the future.

Stiff competition will also come from its Southeastern Conference counterparts, Florida and South Carolina. Nesmith was supposed to visit Gainesville this weekend, but it was postponed till a later date by the coaching staff.

One cannot discount Frank Martin either, as the home state program is coming off of Final Four momentum.

Nesmith is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals and is not currently ranked in its Top 150. That could very well change, as he has been a breakout performer this spring and summer.
