Vanderbilt running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn was taken by Tampa Bay in Round 3 (No. 76 overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ronald Jones II is Tampa's incumbent starter at running back. In two years as a pro, Jones has averaged 3.9 yards per carry and has rushed for 768 yards. The Buccaneers took Jones 38th overall in the 2018 draft.
Vaughn, a Nashville native who attended Pearl-Cohn High School, transferred to Vanderbilt after two years at Illinois before having a terrific two years as a Commodore.
After redshirting in 2017, Vaughn ran for 1,244 yards and 12 scores on 157 carries (7.9 average), catching 13 balls for 170 yards (13.1) and two touchdowns. Vaughn capped that season with an electrifying Texas Bowl, running for 243 yards and three scores on 13 carries.
A preseason All-American candidate, Vaughn was one of the few bring spots on a dysfunctional offense in a dismal 3-9 VU season last fall. He ran 198 times for 1,028 yards (5.2), adding 28 catches for 270 yards and another score.
Vaughn finished his VU career as the school's fifth all-time leading rusher.
The Buccaneers took Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs in Round 1, and Minnesota safety Antione Winfield in Round 2. Tampa Bay also signed quarterback Tom Brady and traded for retired tight end Rob Grownkowski this week.
