Commodores land California OLB target

Little was known about Oaks Christian (Calif.) product Michael Owusu back in October when he received an offer from the Commodores, but it was clear as time went on he was one of their top priority targets in the 2017 class.

According to Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times, the 3-star rated prospect has signed his National Letter of Intent to Vanderbilt today.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound prospect excelled on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and defensive end. However, the Vanderbilt staff sees him as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 defensive scheme and someone who could blossom into a defensive end down the road.

Owusu chose the Commodores over an offer list that included Boise State, San Diego State, Wyoming, Washington State, Iowa State, Missouri, Hawaii, Purdue, and Southern Cal.

He took his official visit to West End the weekend of January 20th. Owusu becomes the 18th commitment in the 2017 class.
