Florida routs Vanderbilt in Nashville, 55-14

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Florida overwhelmed Vanderbilt with 34 second-quarter points, as the Gators walloped the Commodores by a 55-14 score at Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
UF's 34 second-quarter points were more than enough to do the Commodores in. They came on two touchdown passes from John Brantley, another from Jordan Reed, a 45-yard fumble return from Terron Sanders, and Solomon Patton's return of a blocked punt.

The Gators out-gained VU 480 to 109, and led 41-0 at the half, in registering a season high for points.
Vandy's only touchdowns came when Florida native Ryan van Rensburg blocked a punt near the UF goal line that Javon Marshall scooped up just before he fell across the goal line, and Jared Funk hit Jordan Matthews with a 6-yard touchdown pass with 39 seconds left in the game.
The Commodores also sustained game-ending injuries to tailbacks Zac Stacy and Wesley Tate, this coming on the heels of Warren Norman being ruled out for the season with a wrist injury earlier in the week.
VU (2-7, 1-5 Southeastern Conference) travels to Kentucky next weekend.
