Vanderbilt's baseball roster shrunk by two, as pitcher Matt McGarry and outfielder Hayden Leatherwood won't be with the team as fall practice starts in a few weeks.

A source close to the program informed VandySports of this last week, and Vanderbilt confirmed this on Friday.

McGarry, a seldom-used junior pitcher, has left the team, while Leatherwood, a prep outfielder from Memphis area Christian Brothers High, never reported to campus.

McGarry had control troubles at VU, and posted an 8.59 ERA with 10 walks, 10 wild pitches and two hit batsmen in 7 1/3 innings in 2017.

Leatherwood, a 6-foot, 190-pound outfielder, was ranked as the No. 488 player in the 2017 class, according to Perfect Game. He never reported to campus.

The Commodores are still four men over the 35-man roster limit; you can see that here.
