Vanderbilt eyeing Brentwood's Cole Mabry

Brentwood offensive lineman Cole Mabry is one of the top 2018 prospects in Tennessee. The instate lineman has offers early in the process, and the Commodores are keeping a close eye on the Brentwood native.

“The recruiting process has certainly picked up since the season ended. I’m still trying to plans out some junior days and future camps. I’ve been just talking to colleges, and I’ve had a few come visit,” said Mabry.

“Memphis, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Columbia, and Indiana have all offered. I’m getting interest from Vanderbilt, Ole Miss some, Mississippi State some, and Georgia Tech. I’m also hearing some from Arkansas. I went down there for a game. My uncle (Jim Mabry) was an All-American there, and my Grandfather also played there as well.”

The 6-foot-6 and 255-pound offensive lineman camped at Vanderbilt this past summer, and he likes what the Commodores have to offer.

“Vanderbilt is a great school academically. It is close to home. I really like the coaches up there, and they seem to be mostly players’ coaches. They do a great job of developing their players. They also have a great internship program after school that interests me as well,” said Mabry.

“I plan on going to Junior day at Vanderbilt, and I will probably camp there.”

In addition to academics, Mabry was impressed with Vanderbilt’s performance on the field. He watched Vanderbilt beat instate rival Tennessee.

“I watched some of the Tennessee-Vanderbilt game. It was a good win. I certainly thought going into it that Vanderbilt was going to win. The offense looked good and especially the offensive line. It was a good hometown win,” said Mabry.
