Vanderbilt gets huge win at Alabama

Vanderbilt went on a 30-7 run that spanned two halves, as the Commodores cruised to a 69-59 win at Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Thursday evening.
John Jenkins scored 20 points, Jeffery Taylor added 17, and Festus Ezeli (12) and Lance Goulbourne (11) both chipped in with double-figure scoring games, as VU (14-4, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) won its eighth-straight game.

The Commodores closed the first half on a 15-2 run, and cruised for most of the second half, leading 58-35 at one point. A late Crimson Tide run keyed by VU's turnovers helped 'Bama cut the lead to 10 at the end.
Vandy shot just 40 percent from the field, took 20 fewer shots that Alabama, and committed 17 turnovers to the 'Tide's eight. But a 13-rebound edge, a 14-point advantage at the foul line, and 'Bama's season-low 32.9 percent shooting put the Commodores over the top.
Alabama's leading scorer, Tony Mitchell, was held scoreless on eight shots.
UA had won 26 of its last 27 games at home.
Vanderbilt returns home to face Mississippi State on Saturday.
