Vanderbilt reaches broadcast deal with 95.9 FM
Nashville, Tenn. - Nashville's original sports station, WNSR, recently announced it will begin broadcasting on 95.9 FM early this summer. The station will continue to broadcast on 560 AM as well and will position itself as "Nashville's SportsRadio 560 on 95.9 FM."
WNSR has now reached a four-year agreement to carry Vanderbilt football, men's and women's basketball and baseball games produced by IMG College, which operates the nation's largest independent sports radio network, through spring of 2017. This signals the return of football and men's basketball to the FM dial in the Nashville area, and brings added exposure to the women's basketball and baseball programs.
"These are exciting times for Vanderbilt athletics," said General Sales Manager and Afternoon Drive Host Thom Abraham. "The football program has risen to unprecedented heights, baseball has been rated No. 1 in the country and the basketball teams are always highly competitive. It's hard to miss the new facilities being built on campus and we are thrilled to be able to add the Commodores to our lineup!"
Vanderbilt Director of Athletics David Williams is also pleased.
"WNSR has been a good and steady partner for many years and its addition of an FM signal not only boosts both our women's basketball and baseball broadcast reach, but will also be a very valuable addition to our football and men's basketball broadcasts as a member of our network."
WNSR will also expand the football pregame programming by one hour with the "Commodores Countdown to Kickoff" show, beginning two and a half hours before kickoff.
1510 WLAC remains the flagship station for Vanderbilt football and men's basketball.
