Vanderbilt routs Davidson on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Vanderbilt played without starters John Jenkins and Andre Walker, but the Commodores were able to build a 28-point halftime lead anyway on the way to a 80-52 rout of Davidson.
Jeffery Taylor (22 points), Brad Tinsley (14), Steve Tchiengang (14) and Festus Ezeli (12) all hit double-figure scoring for the No. 24 Commodores, who improved to 11-2 on the season.

Vandy built a double-digit lead in the first 5:26, built the lead to 21 with 8:26 remaining after Tinsley's fast-break lay-up, and led 48-17 after Taylor's 3 with 2:24 left.
"I was surprised, no one has gotten away from them all season long. I was the most shocked guy in the gym when the first half ended. I give credit to my team, they were short-handed," VU coach Kevin Stallings said.
In the first half, the 'Dores held Davidson to 28.9 percent shooting and hit 21 of their 23 free throws, while DU didn't attempt a free throw attempt.
VU also hit five of its seven 3-pointers, in the first half. Taylor had 16 points at half, and Tinsley had 11.
By the eight-minute mark of the first period, walk-ons Joe Duffy and Jordan Smart had alreadh made appearances, and Duffy even canned a 3.
Davidson never got closer than 24 in the second half.
Taylor, a junior, passed the 1,000-point plateau with a dunk that accounted for the first points in the second half.
