Vandy smacks Vols in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt got a 23-point performance from Jeffery Taylor on Tuesday evening, as the Commodores routed Tennessee 65-47 in Nashville.
On a so-so offensive night for the Commodores, VU's defense dominated the Vols from start to finish. UT hit 35 percent from the field and committed 25 turnovers, and placed just one player -- Jeronne Maymon (15 points) in double-figure scoring.

Vandy scored the game's first 9 points. By midway through the first half, the Commodores led 22-8.
By the break, it was 40-21, with Taylor's 15 points and seven rebounds leading the way.
The Vols shot just 29 percent in the first half, while VU hit 49 percent.
John Jenkins (16 points) was the game's only other double-figure scorer.
The Commodores improved to 15-5, and 5-1 in the Southeastern Conference.
